Now that the joyous frenzy of the holidays are over, I figured I’d show you the outfits I wore during the festive season. In the past, I usually kept it to your standard holiday clothing fare – cozy sweaters, red lips, glitter for New Year’s – but this year, I decided to branch out a little and try to serve some more ~actual looks~. 2017 was for me a year of trying new things, adventuring, and making some pretty big moves, so I figured it’d only be right to show that in my final outfits of the year.
For this first look, I wanted to play with textures, which have been huge these last few seasons. The luxe deep red velvet of this Urban Outfitters dress perfectly captures the Christmas spirit, and I further emphasized the softness of the look with this aviator jacket from Zara, which has the most cuddly furry collar and cuff detailing. The entire jacket is lined with this soft faux fur, which makes it perfectly warm for the chilly-but-not-frigid Bay Area winter.
To add another layer of texture to the mix, I put on some fishnets and wore these heeled leather booties from ASOS (from a few years back, many similar pairs online) to echo the faux leather on the jacket.
Keeping the accessorizing to a minimum, I wore a pair of circular studs with a deep blue stone (similar here) from Francesca’s. I’ve been really loving how darker red and blue look together! For makeup, since Christmas tends to involve a lot of eating and drinking, I decided to keep the lips nude (Drip by Colourpop) and work some deep red shadow (Bitten by MakeupGeek) into the crease and outer corners of my eyes to frame the glitter on the lids (Smoldering Satin by Stila). I kept the skin fresh and just highlighted with Colourpop’s Flexitarian, which has been my ride or die since I got it. The holidays are a busy time, so I kept the hair easy and pretty much untouched. That’s it, really— an easy dressier look that’s festive with a bit of edge.
This second look is a little more casual, since our home hosted several holiday gatherings and frankly it’s not very practical to be perpetually dressed up. I tucked this black lace camisole-style top from Mango into my Levi’s Wedgie jeans for that lowkey still-tried look.
Swiping on a classic reddish pink (Cherries in the Snow by Revlon), I matched my shoes with the color by wearing these bright red pumps from L.K. Bennett. Topped with simple snowflake-shaped studs, this was my perfect indoor holiday casual outfit for the year.
Hoping you all had as wonderful of a holiday season as I did! Happy 2018!
