My Monday Face is a series here on Cocoon that covers my ever-growing obsession with beauty products and how I use them for fun, even on Mondays.
Another Christmas Eve, another holiday season! In case you haven’t decided what face to put on tomorrow, I’ve got a list of my favorite colors to wear on this mug during the holidays. It’s been a long semester— let’s just get into it.
Let’s be real here— the real fun parts of makeup are usually for the eyes and the lips, so I’ve chosen just lip colors and eyeshadows here today. Starting off with deeper tones, Maybelline’s Divine Wine is a rich burgundy that looks good on just about every skin tone, but if you’re looking for a more classic Christmas shade, Colourpop’s Saigon is a bright red – more vibrant in person than photographed – that will serve holly jolly fish all day long. Saigon was part of Colourpop’s limited edition collaboration with Karrueche Tran, but Colourpop Creeper is very similar. The line’s ultra matte finish guarantees fantastic staying power during all of the delicious eats that holidays bring. I also promised in my last makeup post to include again Revlon’s Cherries in the Snow, and the poppy raspberry shade really does deserve it. A couple more low-maintenance but equally pretty colors for your lips are Korres Wild Rose and NYX Cannes. I’ve owned the Korres lip butters for years now and love the moisturizing but pigmented formula every time I wear them. The NYX SMLCs are also a favorite because of their creamy texture and lightweight matte finish.
In the eyeshadow department, I tried to include a variety of colors but somehow there ended up being some similar shades. Old habits, they say. The first one featured here is from the Studio Makeup Cool Down eyeshadow palette and is a beautiful lavender-taupe with heavy silver glitter. It’s definitely a color for occasions. Colourpop’s La La is a high-impact metallic copper with slight rosy hints, and the brand’s formula for their shimmer eyeshadows just cannot be beaten— it’s smooth and buttery and gives off the most gorgeous foiled look with minimal effort. For a bit of a darker, smoldery look, grab NYX’s Bedroom Eyes, a bronzy metallic brown with gold flecks, which applies and blends so easily that it’s as if it was made to become one with your face. The following two shadows are from the Juvia’s Place Nubian Palette, which is every autumn enthusiast’s dream come true, warm and pigmented and just breathtaking. It’s so beautiful that I have to keep using it through the rest of the seasons, regardless of rules. The shimmery chestnut and cranberry shades I included here are great for all upcoming festivities. This next color is so dear to my heart; I think I’d even call it my ride or die. It’s elf’s Toasted, a flawless rosy gold, and I’ve worn it in every possible life situation. Somehow this shade, whether applied wet or dry, is the most perfectly wearable color I have ever swatched— and I’ve swatched a lot of eyeshadows in my time! It walks the line between cool and warm, soft and striking so effortlessly, and it’s only three dollars. I honestly think everyone should own this eyeshadow. To end on a classic note, I included Milani’s Bella Copper, a wearable, sheer gold that would be perfect for your traditional holiday face!
These were just a few of the colors I’ll be wearing tomorrow on Christmas and throughout the rest of the season. Happy holidays; you’ll hear from me next year!
